For too long, visitors to Roche-A-Cri have been forced to survive without a proper grocery store. Left to fend for themselves with lukewarm trail mix, melted cheese curds, and whatever was forgotten in the bottom of the cooler. But together, we can change that. Your donation will help bring Roche-A-Cri Grocery to life: a proud local institution where hikers, campers, and confused tourists can buy snacks, sunscreen, firewood, and at least three varieties of questionable gas-station pizza. Give generously, because no one should have to drive twenty minutes just to have a spree at Roche-A-Cri Grocery.
This campaign is satire. While you will actually recieve this Tshirt, the proceeds of the fundraiser are going to Friends of Wisconsin State Parks charity. What they do with the money is likely more important than a silly grocery store.
For generations, the people of Roche-A-Cri have lived with a great and largely ignored hardship: there is nowhere nearby to buy a decent loaf of bread.
Visitors arrive expecting a charming little grocery store tucked beneath the bluffs, perhaps with a wooden porch, a bell above the door, and a friendly cashier who knows everyone by name. Instead, they find beautiful scenery, hiking trails, ancient rock formations—and absolutely no place to purchase potato salad.
Every year, countless campers, hikers, and road-trippers arrive underprepared. Coolers run dry. Hot dog buns are forgotten. Marshmallows vanish under mysterious circumstances. Someone always brings mustard but no ketchup. Families are then forced to make the long and emotionally exhausting journey back to civilization, often during the exact moment the campfire finally starts burning properly.
We believe the people deserve better.
Our dream is to establish Roche-A-Cri Grocery: a dependable small-town market serving everything a person could reasonably need, including milk, bread, charcoal, bug spray, cheese curds, emergency socks, suspiciously large pickles, and several varieties of chips that nobody remembers choosing but everyone eventually eats.
This would not merely be a grocery store. It would be a community landmark, a beacon of hope, and a place where a person could walk in for ice and leave with forty dollars’ worth of snacks and a souvenir sweatshirt.
With your support, we can end grocery insecurity near Roche-A-Cri once and for all. Together, we can build a future where no camper goes without s’mores, no picnic goes without napkins, and every visitor has the opportunity to say:
“I had a spree at Roche-A-Cri Grocery.”
