About this campaign
Hands Across the Sand was started in 2010 when the BP Deepwater Horizon oil rig blew up killing 11 men and spilling millions of gallons of oil in to the pristine waters of the Gulf of Mexico. We draw a line in the sand creating a powerful image by joining hands around the globe to say NO to filthy fuels. We want to continue the much needed advocacy and education to reach out to everyone about the need to advocate for renewable energies. http://handsacrossthesand.org/
http://handsacrossthesand.org/ To bring together like-minded individuals and organizations with the conviction to organize a Global movement to promote a clean energy future for our earth and end our dependence on dirty fuel sources.These gatherings will bring thousands of American and Global citizens to our beaches and cities and will draw metaphorical and actual lines in the sand; human lines in the sand against the threats Fossil Fuels pose to our present and future planet.
To convince our State Legislators, Governors, Congress and President Obama and World leaders to adopt policies encouraging the growth of clean and renewable energy sources in place of oil and coal.
An Opportunity of National and Global Importance
Now is the time for America and global leaders to join hands and steer our energy policy away from our dependence on fossil fuels and into the light of clean energy and renewables. Help us maintain our purpose of advocacy against filthy fuels and for clean energy to save out planet.

I live in Panama City, and I don't want what happened in our beautiful Gulf five years ago to happen anywhere else! NO to filthy fossil fuels!
I participated last year for the first time and found the experience very gratifying.
I passionately believe there should be no more drilling for oil especially in the extremely sensitive environment of the ocean. I participate in hands across the sand and want the shirt!
The 21st century will become the ecology century. Stopping pollution before it begins is the way forward.
