About this campaign
Katy is receiving the medical care she needs to stay healthy and comfortable. Every donation helps offset veterinary expenses and ensures she receives the treatment and support she deserves.
Any funds raised beyond Katy's needs will help provide medical care for other BFPA foster dogs and cats. As a volunteer-run rescue, BFPA takes in many animals requiring specialized veterinary care, and every contribution helps make a difference. Please consider buying a shirt and/or donating to support Katy. Shirt can be shipped or local pickup option is Sunday December 6th, 1-3PM at Waverly Place in Cary.
Katy's Story :
Katy, a 14-pound Chihuahua mix, came to BFPA in May with a chronic fracture of her right calcaneus (heel bone) and damage to the tendon attached to it. She is now facing a major medical decision: a complex surgical repair or, if the injury proves too severe, a hind-leg amputation.
Because the fracture is chronic, there is concern that the bone may not be healthy enough to reliably hold surgical hardware. While amputation is never an easy decision, dogs Katy's size typically adapt remarkably well and can enjoy excellent mobility and quality of life afterward.
Our goal is to raise $1,500 to help cover Katy's procedure, follow-up care, and recovery. Your generosity will give Katy the opportunity for a comfortable, active future free from chronic pain.
Any funds raised beyond Katy's medical needs will help provide veterinary care for other BFPA foster dogs and cats. We are deeply grateful for every donation that helps Katy heal.
