About this campaign

This is a booster to help bring awareness to Hurler Syndrome and to help Holden fight the battle against Hurler, and help get the world to finding a cure.

Holden was diagnosed on February 23rd, 2017 with Hurler syndrome. A disorder that he is missing the enzyme that breaks down sugar, so the sugar builds up on his organs. Its a very rare and serious disorder, left untreated, the child effected more then likely wont see their 10th birthday. There is no cure just two treatments, a bone marrow transplant and enzyme replacement transplants. For any family fighting this battle its very difficult and pulls at your heart. Holden will be starting chemo for ten days in April around the 24th, then he will be having a bone marrow transplant, and will be in hospital for 6 to 8 weeks then staying at a RonaldMcDonald house for about 3 more weeks for follow up visits. He currently has to see a specialist for his ears, back, heart, lungs, and enlarged spleen. He will be having to wear a back brace due to a round disc in his spine. He has been wearing hearing aids since a few months old. He catches any kind of infection very easily due to a weaker immune system. His bones are very fragile and that cant be fixed even with the bone marrow transplant. He more then likely will be spending his first birthday in the hospital recoverying from the bone marrow transplant.
