“If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs…You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.”
During a 16-day trip to Uganda, I encountered thousands of women and children living in severe poverty - unlike any poverty I ever imagined. Here, water sources are contaminated with raw sewage, litter fills the makeshift streets, children run through the slums unattended, and an absence of love permeates the air. Families live in single room shack-style homes with no bathroom, electricity or running water. Life in the slums is a daily battle for survival - from starvation and disease. Following my return to the US, I am thankful to be able to provide support to 10 women, 14 children, 1 family of 6 and 1 college student living in Uganda. 100% of profits will benefit individuals living in severe poverty in Uganda. The honor and glory goes to God, who provides the way to support my new family in Uganda.profits from this fundraiser will directly benefit these individuals: food, shelter, school fees, and medical care.
