With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of our brother, Sgt Matthew Cook, who passed away on December 31, 2025. Matt was more than just a Trooper. He was the kind of friend everyone hopes to have standing beside them. He was a devoted father, significant other, loving son, brother, and nephew, and he never hesitated to show up for the people he loved. We hope to honor his life by making a meaningful impact in the lives of others, just as he did every day by putting everyone else before himself without hesitation.

Thank you for doing this. This should have been done a long time ago. All first responders have their struggles and have seen way too much.
I am a former correctional officer with ODRC. I also have friends and family that federal and state law enforcement officers across the country. I know how hard the job is not only on the officer but the family and there needs to be help for them
