About this campaign

Jenkintown Middle School's 7th Grade Students are raising money for the organization Building Homes for Heroes.

https://http//www.buildinghomesforheroes.org.

Students read the novel The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis: a story of a young girl's struggle to survive war torn Afghanistan. During the reading, students were inspired to help others through learning about feminism, equal education, and veterans' rights.

When the young feminist Emma Watson presented her ideas to The United Nations, she stated: "If not me than who, if not now then when?" Students took these words to heart to create a campaign to help others in need such as wounded veterans. The 7th graders created slogans and voted otheir avorite that appears on the t-shirt. The winning slogan was written by 7th grader Rigel Strohm. With the support of the art department and teacher Mr. Jason Slowik, the image was created by 11th grade student Mia Westkaemper. Students will continue their efforts to support the fundraiser through writing professional emails and promoting the fundraiser through social media.
