About this campaign

I will be serving as an intern for a little over a month this summer with Moyo Missions. The total cost of the trip is $4,000, which covers several important expenses needed to make this mission possible. These expenses include international airfare to Brazil, housing, meals, transportation within the country, my visa, and other logistical costs during my time serving.

The name of their outreach in Brazil is Vinde Meninos, which means “Come Children” in Portuguese. This name was inspired by an old hymn welcoming children to come and give their lives to Christ. In the Gospel of Matthew 19:13- 15, we see the heart of Jesus as He welcomes children as they come to Him, “Then children were brought to Him that He might lay His hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the Kingdom of Heaven.’” Vinde Meninos is reaching more than 140 children per week in two locations. The focus is strong and clear – Investing in the lives of children and families through Biblical Discipleship, Meeting Physical Needs, and Advancing Education.

The story of my calling to missions in Brazil starts on October 30, 2016, when I was eleven years old, God called me to be a missionary in a little church in Eastatoe Valley. My family went camping there frequently, and on Sundays, we usually went to our home church, but this Sunday was different. We had been invited by the campground owners to a missions conference at their church. My family walked inside this little country church, and the whole sanctuary was covered in flags. The missionary spoke about his experience in missions. As I was sitting there, God said, "Kaylee, I am calling you to be a missionary." As any eleven-year-old would ask, I said, "God, where?" I looked around at the flags in the room, and God illuminated the Brazilian flag. Ever since that day, God has continually confirmed this calling to missionary service right where my feet are planted and one day in Brazil. A couple of years later, my dad wanted to lead by example and take my family on a mission trip. That week was one of the best weeks of my life. After this trip, God called my dad and our entire family to be missionaries to Cape Breton Island. We moved nine months later. My family has served as missionaries for the past seven years in Cape Breton Island, and God has taught me so much through this.

Through all the hardships, God has been faithful and shown me what it means to serve Him with my life. God has given me a heart to share Him, and He has shown me this verse to live by: "Go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in." (Luke 14:23) I desire to serve Him in each and every circumstance I am placed in, and I want to be more and more like Jesus.

This summer, God has opened the door for me to serve in Brazil. I can hardly put into words how joyful and grateful I am to have the opportunity to go—almost ten years after God first placed that calling on my heart.

Looking back over the past decade, I can clearly see the faithfulness of God. From that small church filled with flags to serving as missionaries as a family, God has guided every step of the journey. There were moments when I did not understand His timing, but He has proven time and time again that His plans are perfect.

This opportunity to serve in Brazil is a reminder that God always keeps His promises. When He calls us to something, He is faithful to prepare the way, grow our faith, and open the doors in His perfect timing. I am incredibly thankful to see how the Lord has worked in my life, and I am excited to see how He will continue to work in Brazil and in the lives of the people I will meet.

I am trusting Him as I take this step of faith, knowing that the same God who called me is the God who will continue to lead, provide, and work through this mission for His glory.

I would love for you to be part of what God is doing through this mission. Whether through prayer or financial support, you are helping make it possible for the Gospel to reach children and families in Brazil. Thank you for partnering with me as I follow the calling God has placed on my life.
