More About Fred's Academy and Ralston

We are one world with many stories!

Many students in Kenya do not have the opportunities that we have here. The only hope for his students in Kenya to one day compete in the world market is to be educated in other cultures and technology.

Through this fundraising event we hope to close the gap in technology afforability and help Fred's Academy and Ralston strengthen their sharing of teaching and learning. Ralston Elementary is proud to have a sister school in Meru, Kenya.

A dream began when John Kamwara and Autumn Montgomery saw how much students from two continents could care about one another and how much they could learn from one another.

Some years ago we had a special visit from John Kamwara, head teacher from Fred's Academy in Meru, Kenya. He came to visit an American school to experience how technology was used in teaching and to see American teaching methods. We became great friends.

Two years ago, Autumn Montgomery, former teacher librarian at Ralston, went with a team to John's school to instruct teachers and students in technology. This year, John was able to visit Ralston again to renew friendships and make new friends. During these years our students have been pen pals with students at Fred's Academy, exchange informative videos of culture, and share instructional videos.
