About this campaign

Kenzie Bailey and her family need your help. They will be facing many hurdles during a long recovery after having surgery. Please help by purchasing this great T-shirt for 25$ and not only help Kenzie's battle but it's a nice way to bring awareness for others as well. Please join us in our fight.

Mikenzie Bailey has always battled for her health. Not only does Kenzie suffer with Chiari, she has had 17 surgeries over her 18 years. She has hyrdrocephlus (water on the brain), she was diagnosed with PDD (its on the autism spectrum but take that diagnosis with a grain of salt). Many other medical hurdles have caused years of pain, and develomental disabilities. Mikenzie has taken all of this with a smile. Kenzie always sees the best in all people.
She is nervous about this upcoming surgery but is excited to be relieved of some of the pain she has faced for way to long.
With senior prom coming up a little over a week after surgery she remains VERY optimistic that she would be able to attend even if just for a quick picture ( we wont be the ones to rain on that parade ) Graduation is a little over a month after surgery, if all goes smoothly she will be able to walk with her class, even if she shows up with a slightly different hair style :)
We are scheduled for surgery on May 8th in Seattle,WA. The surgery itself should only take 3-4 hours. Kenzie will then be placed in ICU for a minimum of 24 hours and then to a regular hospital room for an additional 4 days or so. Recovery should take 6-8 wks but she will need 24 hour monitoring for 12+ wks. There will be possible physical therapy or rehabilitation during or after this time frame, it depends on how she does. Everyone is different and responds differently. Over those 12 wks Janell (Kenzie's mom) will be out of work to care for Kenzie and see to it that she gets the care she needs post op. This can be a major hardship on any family. Kenzie will need to be seen several times in Seattle after surgery as well. Which leads to a large expense in itself.
While we are all happy to see the outcome be a positive one none the less this is a major surgery and we will be needing as many prayers, postive thought, and good vibes anyone can send our way.
If you do not wish to purchase a T-shirt or donate please feel free to send Kenzie a get well card:
