Our three main programs
Kingfisher Global Leadership Program
The program aims to empower Kyoto University students with the skills and networks they need to thrive in an increasingly globalized society. On an annual basis, we provide 10 currently enrolled Kyoto University students with the opportunity to visit and learn firsthand about international career opportunities and to visit offices such as the World Bank, the United Nations, and Google.

Shida Scholarship Program
Thanks to the will of the late Mitsuzo Shida, this scholarship program is designed to provide scholarships to students and researchers from the Faculty of Engineering and Graduate School of Engineering at Kyoto University, who will undertake long-term research studies at universities and research institutes in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

The webinar panels discuss various topics for our community to highlight Kyoto University alumni voices and to promote Kyoto University by featuring research and international collaborations in diverse fields.



Our Impacts
The Kingfisher Global Leadership Program started in 2011 and it has brought about life-changing impacts on the participants. The program has been growing. Originally, the participants visited organizations in Washington, D.C., and they started visiting San Francisco in 2023 and New York City in 2024. Supported by Kyoto University alumni in each of the three cities, the program participants expanded their horizons and envisioned their career paths and leadership. The program participants currently work internationally, including but not limited to the International Monetary Fund, the United Nations, and Google.

Started in 2024, the Shida Scholarship Program has supported outstanding future researchers to engage with research in their field at leading universities in the world. This marks the third year of the Shida Scholarship Program sending fellows abroad. To date, we have supported 13 scholars in pursuing their research at prestigious universities around the world. Beyond advancing their academic ambitions, the program has fostered meaningful connections—among the fellows themselves and with members of the selection committee—creating a vibrant and supportive scholarly community.

The impact stories from the participants of the Kingfisher Global Leadership Program and Shida Scholarship Program will be shared on our LinkedIn and in emails in the coming weeks.

The two flagship programs have been possible with continuous support from Kyoto University alumni and supporters who generously share their networks, stories, and resources with us. Building on the tangible impacts, Kyodai Collaborative aims to expand our support network to continually deliver transformative programs.
