About this campaign
Q: Why would I want to support you? Isn’t this just “religious tourism”?
A: It would be if what we're doing weren’t sustainable. Rather than go down for one week, “fix” some things and leave, there are a few distinct differences:
Year-round support. As a church, we financially support Pastor Luis all year so that he can be a full-time resource in La Mosca. He serves there 6 days/week (often with his family) and provides hot meals for the children in the village, which are the only meals many of them see each day.
Partnerships. We partner with G.O. ministries, an organization that brings multiple teams in every week to the Greater Santiago area to continually fulfill needs.
G.O. empowers local leaders. Local leaders are trained and given resources to continue work rather than relying 100% on visiting teams.
Q: What is La Mosca?
A: La Mosca translates to "the fly". It is an impoverished village in the greater Santiago area that sprung up next to the city's garbage dump, hence the name.
Q: When are you going?
A: July 26 - August 2.
Q: What does my monetary support provide?
A:
Airfare Lodging Transportation Meals Medical supplies
