Leslie's Fight Against Brain Cancer

Leslie is a single mother who is fighting Cancer. Mounting medical and house hold bills along with not being able work is putting a strain on her fight. She just went through 6 weeks of daily radiation treatment on her head and spine. She went back for a check-up and it was no where near the news we hoped and prayed for. She was in Gainesville a couple weeks ago for scans and to talk to the main neuro oncologist. He told her that he didn't see a change in the scans which is not uncommon after radiation as it continues doing it's thing for up to three months after. He did say that what she has is not a Pineal Parenchymal Tumor but is Pineoblastoma. The difference is that the tumor she has is Cancer and is a malignant tumor of the pineal gland. Pineoblastoma is a rare, aggressive type of cancer that begins in the cells of the brain's pineal gland. This change came after the tumor board and other doctors studied and reviewed her scans and that now she has three tumors not just one ( 2 on spine and 1 in her head). She will have to start a very aggressive chemo to attack these tumors.

The chemo is kind of confusing they will be treating it very aggressively twice a week. which will be a total of 6-8 treatments a month and will go for 8 months.. It’s a very aggressive chemo because normally the tumor isn’t found in people her age it’s normally in children. She just started chemo now because they had to wait for her blood work to come back and make sure her bone marrow is good to go. She will go back to Gainesville for more scans in about 15 weeks.

Now that chemo has started, she is not allowed to work. PLEASE continue to pray for Leslie as this battle just got a whole lot harder.
