About this campaign
I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to help others.
Each year The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) launches its
Visionaries of the Year fundraising campaign, and I was honored to
join this year’s efforts as the 2024 Visionaries of the Year candidate
for Team Azalea. I am writing today to ask for your support of LLS’s
mission in its efforts to find cures for blood cancers and to assist
patients and families as they battle this disease.
From March 7 th – May 17 th , our team goal is to raise $50,000
which will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission to
find cures and ensure patients access to the treatments they need.
Like many of you, I have witnessed firsthand the debilitating effects that leukemia, lymphoma,
Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma can have on those who suffer from these blood cancers, and on
the friends and family who care for and nurture their loved ones. In fact, leukemia still causes
more deaths than any other cancer among children under 20.
But there is something we can do, there are many reasons to be proud to support LLS’s efforts.
Since 2016, LLS helped advance more than 70% of blood cancer treatment options approved by
the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The long-term research investment is paying off.
Since starting in 1949, LLS has invested nearly $1.6 billion in cutting edge cancer research,
leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are
saving and improving the lives of patients. This is an organization that is doing the right things
with the dollars it raises, and I’m proud to be associated with LLS.

Our honored hero this year is Evie. This is her story:
"Evie started having unusual bruising the month or so before diagnosis. The week leading up to it, she was having low grade fevers and being more tired than usual. I took her to the pediatrician and asked to have her hemoglobin checked and it was at 5. We were then rushed to the ER and after a quick blood draw, her WBC came back to 90,000 and we were diagnosed with cancer that night. Since that day, Evie has had a port insertion, multiple testing, weekly and biweekly chemo, multiple lumbar punctures and shots. She is now on lon
