Lotus Blooms Supports Woodhull Freedom Foundation

The Woodhull Freedom Foundation-- named for American suffragist Victoria Woodhull-- is in their 8th year of hosting the Sexual Freedom Summit. Each year they welcome sex educators, policy makers, bloggers, social justice activists, researchers, lawyers, physicians, sex shop staff, and other advocates to share ideas and work in community.

When the Summit is over, Woodhull doesn’t stop. They work tirelessly on issues of sex worker rights, sexual and domestic violence, anti-shackling laws, and eliminating discrimination based on identity and family structure, among other human rights efforts. As president Ricci Joy Levy says, “If it affects your personal autonomy, it’s a Woodhull issue.”

We at Lotus Blooms have been longtime supporters of Woodhull and participants in the Summit. Each year, the same store educators who answer your questions and lead in-store workshops are also giving their time as Summit volunteers, presenters, and performers. It's a regular part of our community outreach and we love being a part of such a great event!

This year, we decided to go a little further and raise money to support the human rights and sexual freedom work that Woodhull does all year round. When you buy a shirt with our "Pleasure for Every Body" design and motto on the front and our "What is Sex-Positivity to You?" word cloud on the back, you're not just spreading the message of sex-positivity-- you're helping Woodhull keep it alive. You're helping every person who's impacted by Woodhull's work on behalf of domestic abuse victims, sex workers, the LGBTQ community, and families whose rights are endangered by existing laws.
