Help us Raise Money for Mackenzi's surgery

We've been preparing Kenzi for bariatric surgery for a year now. She has seen all of her specialists, and even added more to the list throughout the journey. Mackenzi's organs continue to get worse due to her growth. For a tad bit, we thought maybe she was slowing down. We were wrong. Her bones and joints are getting worse and are growing rapidly. This is causing her pain....daily. She's now on multiple meds and treatments. But that's our typical day. During prep for surgery. She joined the HEROs Clinic at Children's. It was then, we found that her liver is bad. They decided to perform a liver biopsy, but decided to wait until the gastric bypass to get it done. We knew we'd have a fight on our hands with the insurance company due to her age. Dr. Cusick recently came to Children's and was prepared to have the surgery. He was certain that any appeals made would be accepted. He was wrong. We've appealed United Healthcare multiple times over the last four months. Each time, denied. Their only reason....her age. Now, if you have kept up with Kenzi, you'd know that looking at her, she's the size of an adult. Everything about her. But they still denied her at the age of 12. Other children that are obese....but NOT medically....were accepted through their insurance. This is a UH deal. We can no longer appeal. We've done appeals, peer reviews, face to face with the physicians. They will not budge. I am currently waiting for a call from Children's on a base amount to pay out of pocket. This will strictly include the cost of the surgery. This does not account for ICU or recovery, follow ups, meds, treatments, my stay and needs while up there, and my daily life as a single mom with two other kiddos that will be at home. Is it reachable? I'm not sure....but my child's life is priceless and I will try my hardest. To end this, I must include that gastric bypass was a last resort option surgery to take any weight and pressure off her organs, bones and joints. Her heart, lungs and liver can't take much more. This surgery can help prolong and save her life
