Mariposas for Morgynne

My name is Myleigh Brennan. In October of 2021 I lost my best friend Morgynne to suicide. It was definitely a shock to myself as well as everyone around me as her death affected the whole community greatly. Describing Morgynne in a short set of words is really hard. There's so many different things that could be said. She was the funniest person i had ever met. She never failed to make me or anyone else smile. If you knew her you knew how she lit up a room. Her smile was so contagious if you saw it you had to smile too. She was a loving and loyal friend, sister, and daughter. She was creative, beautiful, humorous, and so much more.    Morgynne had been struggling with her mental health for a long time and so she always made it her mission to make sure everyone felt loved, accepted, and heard. I had also struggled with mental health and more specifically the topic of suicide, so I really related to her and that made her death hit especially close to home.    When she passed I knew I wanted to do something special for the community in her honor especially if it had the ability to help other people who may be struggling with their own mental health and/or the idea of suicide. so, after much consideration, in late November of 2021 I took it upon myself to make Mariposas for Morgynne. When I first thought of it, I figured I would sell a couple of hoodies to Morgynne's close friends but it grew like crazy. I sold way more than I thought I ever could and In Morgynne's name I raised over $3,500 and donated 100% of all profits to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Which is a non-profit organization that directly helps suicide prevention research, education, and advocacy to take action against suicide. As of September 2022, almost a year has gone by since her passing. As well as it being suicide prevention month. I wanted to make something else to hold her memory alive and raise money for a good cause. So this time will be no different than the last, 100% of proceeds will go to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.
