“See you later” It’s not just a date on the calendar… Not for me… It's the one that breaks my heart every time it comes around. Suicide prevention has been my mission since the day my son left this world. I am changed forever and am on a mission to help prevent another senseless suicide. Let my son's story being shared be the reason someone else's child decides to stay!
May is mental health month. This is the month of my son's birthday, May 21, 2001. It is also the same month that I lost my son to suicide. Four days after his 17th birthday, he took his own life. We were blindsided by his death. My son was a good kid, he had friends, he was loved so much by his family, and we were there for him. But, he ultimately chose to suffer in silence. We have no words for this. We believe it was an impulsive choice due to his immature brain and lack of sleep. He had a bad day. I know that God was with him in his final moments but the devils voice was louder and he left our world. We are devastated to this day... This May 25, 2024, will mark the 6th year my son has been gone. We want to bring awareness to the topic of teen suicide and hopefully save someone else's life by sharing our story. Let our story inspire the conversation about mental health. Let's save another life and prevent another tragedy.
