About this campaign

Help us continue to raise money for one of the best and brightest in D.C, Miss Tara Papanicolas with this limited edition T shirt created by photographer and visual artist Violetta Markelou (www.violettamarkelou.com)
The FCK CANCER Let's Dance fundraisers were organized for Tara by her closest friends just after her surgery. Now with the creation of the FCK CANCER Portrait Series by Violetta Markelou, these efforts evolve into a powerful image.
A mini movement has begun !
Knowledge=Power. We want to continue to support Tara through but also spread awareness about cancer and the importance of early detection, lifestyle changes and treatment.
Please join us ! ! !

Ms. Papanicolas, a DC fashion stylist, was diagnosed with a rare and
aggressive form of cancer called MMT. In her 30’s, it is nearly unheard of to contract at such a young age. Having already gone through chemotherapy, she now faces another tremendous battle to rid her body of any potentially remaining cancer cells via radiation. The financial burden this has caused is a source of stress, as it is for so many patients, and this is a story too often told. In this case, Tara’s friends are reaching out to everyone in their communities, while simultaneously trying to raise awareness about the importance of early detection. For Tara, things just weren’t quite right, and luckily, she went to the doctor early on. The message of getting checked out “as soon as you realize something is off” is an important one which is too often ignored.
