About this campaign

What is GTT? Gestational trophoblastic tumor, a rare cancer in women, is a disease in which cancer (malignant) cells grow in the tissues that are formed following conception (the joining of sperm and egg). Gestational trophoblastic tumors start inside the uterus, the hollow, muscular, pear-shaped organ where a baby grows. This type of cancer occurs in women during the years when they are able to have children. There are two types of gestational trophoblastic tumors: hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma. To read more about this please visithttp://www.dana-farber.org/Adult-Care/Treatment-and-Support/Gestational-Trophoblastic-Tumor.aspx#Cancer_Summary.

Why are we doing this? Through the help of knowledgeabledoctors many women are given a quick diagnosis and immediate and thorough treatment. However, many doctors and women across the United States (and Internationally), still do not have enough knowledge of this disease to make early detetction of a molar pregnancy possible. Through the leadership of Dr. Donald Goldstein, and the team at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center, they have becomethe premiere research facility for this disease. We are raising moneyfor their endowment fund which supportsresearch and teaching programs in Trophoblastic Disease.

I have experienced this twice, I would love for a cause to be found and for detection to be possible at first signs of pregnancy. This fund is so close to my heart because I have personally been through it. Twice.
