About this campaign

Mickie has recently signed a contract to receive a seizure response dog. But these dogs cost approx $10,000 so we are working on raising funds to support this! To read more on Mickie please visit www.facebook.com/mickie1inamillion and www.gofundme.com/money4mickie

Mickie was diagnosed  in June 2013 with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy after her seizures started out of nowhere.  She's had nosebleeds for over 3 years now, and her seizures have slowly increased in frequency.  She has up to 12 seizures a month, and while her seizures are only focal (staring spells), just one of these episodes can put her out for up to 24 hours.  Her seizures have gotten to the point where on 6/24/14, Mickie had a VNS implanted in her chest with a wire running up into her neck in an attempt to control her seizures.  Every couple of minutes, she receives shocks in her brain to try to control her seizures.  Mickie's seizure dog is a blessing in the wait.  This dog will be trained to retrieve her medications, bring her out of her seizure faster, turn her over during a seizure so she doesn't aspirate, etc.  Mickie will know she's not alone if anything happens, and this is very important for us to be able to raise the money for her!
Please PLEASE share this with your family and friends so that they may support Mickie as well!
