About this campaign

With the uncertainty of Federal and private grant funding, we have been looking for alternative funding sources to help keep the work of the UW Twin Registry moving forward. By purchasing this t-shirt, you can help us continue to be a valuable research resource.

Twin studies have been used to provide insights into the epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology, psychology, and natural history of conditions as diverse as multiple sclerosis, psychiatric disorders, congenital abnormalities, and cardiovascular disease. More than ever, twin studies continue to hold great promise in fueling important discoveries in medical and behavioral research.

The UW Twin Registry began to enroll twin participants in 2002. Today there are more than 9,000 twin pairs enrolled in the Registry, and new twin pairs are added each month. The UW Twin Registry receives no direct support from state or federal agencies, but has successfully competed for multiple research grants, primarily from the National Institutes of Health and from select private foundations.

Unfortunately, as valuable of a resource as the UW Twin Registry is, its future is threatened by the uncertainty of federal and private grant funding. We continue to look for ways to ensure the Registry’s long-term financial health. You can play an important part in supporting our research by purchasing a sweatshirt! Funds will be used to support the continued growth of the Registry.

Thank you!
