About this campaign

Recently my younger brother Matt was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma,an aggressive cancer usually found in children. My hope is to use this booster campaign to raise awareness for Ewings and to give people the opportunity to support Matt during this time.

As I thought about how to explain our full story, I realized - I should just use my brother's own words. His story is already incredible and his positivity and character have shown, even in the hard moments.:)

After emergency back surgery to remove a tumor pressing on his spinal cord, doctors told us that the tumor was cancerous. Our lives have been turned upside down in many ways, but through it all we've been blessed with an incredible peace and reassurance.

"The main news though is the cancer. We have a protocal lined up now and we are confident that God is working through this and I will be able to push through and beat this! The treatment will be a little longer than I had anticipated, but the success rate for the cancer being cured is higher than I had originally thought. I will be starting a very intense Chemotherapy program on Monday (9/29). It will go for 34 weeks, without any breaks (unless something comes up and it is needed). After the 34 weeks are over (17 two week cycles), there is a 75% chance that the cancer will be "cured". They wont be able to know for sure if it isn't going to come back for 5 years, but there is a 75% chance that it will be fully killed after that.

I am very confident that God will pull me through this and that we can beat this first round through, but if not I know it is all in Gods hands and part of his perfect plan! We are very blessed to have an amazing doctor that we will be working with to defeat this cancer. She has been dealing with Ewings Sarcoma at Albany Med for 30 years. My family and I were very encouraged by her knowledge, skill, enthusiasm and realness about this whole process and we know that we have the best hands and the right procedure planned.

If anyone has questions or wants clarification or just to talk, feel free to contact me, I apologize if I don't respond right away, but I really do love to receiving letters, calls, texts, or messages from everyone. I have been so blessed and encouraged through this whole journey and want to thank all of you who have been praying and really encouraged you to keep praying, but especially for my family who has to deal with so much through all of this! Psalm 118:14-16 - "The LORD is my strength and my song: he has become my salvation. Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: The LORD 's right hand has done mighty things! The LORD's right hand is lifted high; the LORD's right hand has done mighty things!"

Your gift helps pay for treatment costs not covered by his insurance:
Deductible and copays Travel expenses, if we need to go down to NYC for further treatments Treatment and incidentals not covered by insurance Any money raised over out of pocket costs for this year will be donated toThe Sarcoma Foundation of America.
