GaDaH has saved many dogs needing EXTENSIVE surgeries, heart-worm treatments and medical needs.
Help us to pay off all our outstanding surgery bills, so we can continue to save more GSDs in need whilst looking Ninja Turtle AWESOME COOL wearing one of our OFFICIAL GaDaH T-shirts.
The first 5 puppies GaDaH saved back on 14th February 2011 turned out
to have distemper. This kind of set the "ride" for the rescue. We
learnt so much and although hard, financially, physically and
emotionally we continued to save those that had less of a chance than
others. Spinal Tap Surgeries for any pup that had neurological distemper
and the serum for those with mucus distemper. After several months we got burnt out with saving puppies and
constantly fighting distemper, parvo, pneumonia and so we switched to
saving the adult German Shepherd Dog. The first two GSDs we
saved were in a sorry state, COLONEL, needing his rear leg amputating,
having heart-worm disease and extremely malnourished, CAPTAIN severely
malnourished, demodex mange and several skin infections. Our journey and our hearts have led us to continue to save the GSDs that are hurt and have severe orthopedic injuries.
We work with amazing vets in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Devine.
All of our dogs are fully vetted within 2-14 days of coming into rescue, unless they have a medical issue. Our vetting includes: Spay/neuter Rabies- yearly shots since we are in Medina County Core Vaccines Heartworm testing or heartworm & tick disease testing Regular de-worming
Micro-chipped All of our dogs live together and are extremely well socialized.
Due
to the fact that a lot the German Shepherd Dogs that we have saved
recently have been severely injured, we have ran up an extensive bill at
the vets and we really need to get this paid off, so that we can
continue to save these dogs that need us so much.
Although we owe such a high amount, when you look at what we have achieved it is amazing we only owe as much as we do. Most of the GSDs we save are from shelters that don't vet the dogs, which means GaDaH has to pay for vetting.
Even
if we said it cost $100 to vet 1 dog (which it costs a lot more) say we have 80 dogs in rescue, that is $8,000 invested in these dogs waiting to
be adopted.
Over the past few months alone we have saved:
STARLA - both hips dislocated, both sides of her pelvis broken, canine epilepsy.
SHERLOCK - injured pelvis and waiting for his front leg to be amputated. Additional cost of approx $1,000 needed.
SAMUEL - both bones broken in his front left leg and neurological problems.
MYSTIQUE - 16inch tear / rip to her skin and muscles under her abdomen - she underwent several surgeries to have it stitched up.
VENUS - Masticatory muscle myositis (MMM) is an inflammatory disease in dogs. VENUS was at the vets several weeks for several tests.
LEYLA - FHO surgery on her hip, possibly going to need knee surgery also - additional $4,000 needed
MERCK - Fractured leg needed to be plated.
GANNICUS - Pyrothorax - needed 3 weeks in vet care having several tests and weekly x-rays.
SKI - Heartworm Disease - TREATED
STASHA - Heartworm Disease - TREATED
Several demodex, sarcoptic mange and dogs / puppies with severe skin infections.
26 Dogs have recently had Rabies Booster
- since we live in Medina County this is a YEARLY requirement. (The vet
charged me $16 per shot, not what I was expecting, but taking 26 dogs
1.5 miles to the vets is a lot easier than to a low-cost clinic)
28 dogs have just been heartworm/tick disease tested.(We
buy our own tests and have vet tech friends come and run the blood to
reduce costs considerably, however, the tests still cost around $500 to
purchase just 30)
I hope that can help put things a little
into perspective that although we owe a LOT, for what we have in dogs
vetted in the rescue and the surgeries and treatments we have had done,
what we owe is pretty minimal in comparison.
By purchasing a t-shirt you are not only showing your support of GaDaH, you are helping with exposure and then of course the money raised will go directly towards the vet debt. Once we pay off our vet-debt we can get back to saving the MANY German Shepherd Dogs in KILL Shelters around Texas that are severley injured and get looked over.
Holiday season is approaching and what a wonderful gift for friends, family, colleagues, animal advocates and of course fellow German Shepherd Dog Lovers.
HELP US, HELP the BREED we LOVE.
Supporters
Without the support the rescue cannot continue to save the magnificent German Shepherd Dogs we find in KILL Shelters. Also, t-shirt is pretty darn cool - whoever thought up the wording on the back must be some awesome chick, I bet she is English too!
