About this campaign
On April 22, 2014, Delaney was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer called Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma, also known as EHE. Weneed to raise moneyand awareness of this disease in order to find a treatment and a cure.
On April 22, 2014, Delaney was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer called Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma, also known as EHE. This form of cancer has absolutely zero funding or attention from outside sources because so few people are affected by it. Every penny of research has been funded by EHE patients, families, and friends. There is only one doctor, Dr. Brian Rubin, MD,PhD, dedicating his research to EHE.Dr. Rubin is a global leader in EHE research, he discovered the disease’s genetic underlying genetic cause and, in 2013, became the first to grow and sustain an EHE cell line. According to The Cleveland Clinics official EHE Research page http://giving.ccf.org/goto/EHEresearch, Dr. Rubin is making advancements in the diagnosis, origin, and treatments of EHE. EHE families are trying to raise funds so he can continue his research. We hope to find a cure, or at least a treatment, to help Delaney and all of our EHE family. Dr. Rubin is our only hope. There are only 20 people diagnosed with EHE each year. This makes Delaney literally one in a million. Delaney was diagnosed with EHE after having a tumor removed from her left bicep.She has handled all of this like a champ and she wears her scar like a badge of honor. There is not a cure for EHE or even a set treatment developed. Every patient, including Delaney, is considered experimental. The good news is that we love Delaney's oncologist. Her current course of treatment will be full body CTscans/MRIs/PETscans every three months…and to treat each tumor individually if and when they develop. Her next set of scans is in January. If you are interested in learning more about EHE, please do not google it. The information you will find is either outdated or just plain incorrect. Dr. Rubin maintains a website with the most current information: www.cravatfoundation.org. If you would like to help Delaney and everyone else affected by this disease, please buy a t-shirt and donate to Dr. Rubin. Right now, he is our only hopefor finding a treatment or a cure. I am supporting Laney because her mom and I were in the military together. Even though I never met Laney, I feel like I've known her since birth. I am praying and will continue to pray and support her and the family until she beats this. Love you all
I am supporting this campaign because i care for all the people who have been affected by this rare disease, including laney. It's a shame that not that many people know about this, but by doing everything we can, we can change things for the better.
EHE took my son Lazaros at the age of 5 1/2 years old. It's amazing how the internet and cyber connections allow many of us to connect and support those searching for a cure! Praying for all affected.
