About this campaign

Be Strong, Not Silent was recently created to provide awareness and support for men in the military who are living with depression and other mental illnesses.

Be Strong, Not Silent came about when the founder, Shawn Losole, was reading up on his own depression, and started looking for support groups in his area or online. After finding nothing local, he looked to start a non-profit organization to increase awareness and support for men, especially in the military, who are living with depression and mental illnesses. We would like to remind people that being strong doesn't necessarily mean not talking about your problems, hence: Be Strong, Not Silent.

About a year ago Shawn and I lost a close friend to depression then recently I found out about Shawn struggle. I believe in this organization and its potential to help so many.

I think as men we're taught to be strong and don't show weakness, but the weakness is not being able to live with and be happy with yourself. No longer should we hide our emotions and this is a great avenue step in the right direction.
