Rebuilding Our Community, Inc needs your help. With the purchase of this shirt for $15, we can help the homeless. All proceeds will directly benefit the homeless.
Rebuilding Our Community, Inc. was founded in 2014, by 3
ambitious gentlemen. Seeing the amount
of homelessness throughout the state of North Carolina and the United States,
we saw a need to work to find a solution to this epidemic. During our research we found that there are
numerous homeless shelters available, but we wanted to have a more
comprehensive approach to eradicating homelessness.
We will have a three part system. The first part of that system is to offer
them a shelter to reside. This shelter
will be like your conventional shelters, in which, we will provide food, a place
to take a shower, and a place to sleep. While
most homeless shelters open in the evening and provide the homeless one meal a
day before putting them back on the street, at our shelter, we will have
additional times open during the day, so that individuals can shower and put on clean
clothes for an interview or simply for an additional meal. Our shelter will
offer a limited number of beds and will only be for those who are serious about
getting off of the streets. We want to focus
on the homeless individuals who are willing to help themselves.
The second part of our system is to offer a comprehensive
counseling center and access to a health clinic. We realize there are numerous
factors that contribute to being homeless.
One of the most under looked factors that contribute to homelessness is
mental health. We will offer our clients
the opportunity to have counseling sessions with licensed counselors, who will attempt
to find the source of their homelessness. This will be one of the requirements necessary
to graduate our program. Our client will
also have access to a health clinic with Physicians and Physician
Assistants.
The third and final part of unique system is to partner with
the Employee Security Commission, commonly known as the Unemployment Office,
and the local Housing Authority. This is
probably the most important part of our system.
We want our clients to work towards being self-sufficient. Our clients will be placed with an employment
counselor to get them job interviews and help them learn job skills. The housing authority will help place our
clients in good homes and/or apartments and help them maintain that place of residence
throughout their stay.
Our multi-faceted system is designed to provide the homeless
population in our community the skills necessary
to avoid ever having to live on the street.
For our clients, we will work to provide hope, instill confidence, and
most importantly, provide a thorough, comprehensive support system that extends
even after completion of the program. These
follow-up services will track our clients as they progress back into working
members of society, ensuring they are ready and committed. Follow up services
will also track successes we can share with new clients and the public.
