About this campaign

We would love to be able to raise money to help an addict get the treatment, or help, they need. That means everything from food to treatment to medication assisted sobriety. We also are raising money to become non profit, but first, and foremost, to help an addicted child.

intlpngEvery 13 minutes we lose a person to heroin overdose. It is killing our future generation at a rapid rate. Every person we lose is someone's son or daughter. Addiction is NOT a choice. It is considered a disease and has been classified a disease since the early 1970's.  Once a person is addicted, they cannot fight it on their own. The sad part is, no one knows who will become an addict until it's too late. Many kids live away from their family and can't get the help they need, or even a place to get a meal, take a shower or sleep. They are homeless, and often desperate, so they steal something to sell to buy heroin. If they are caught, they are put in jail, maybe for a day or two or even a week, then let back out to start over again until their court date. That is not the kind of help they need. In fact, that can be the cause of an overdose. Once they are clean, their system cannot handle that same amount of drug they had used before going to jail. They struggle through horrendous withdrawal in jail. Alone. No one there to even tell them they will be ok.  We have families that would like to get their child home, but can't afford the cost. We have people that need shoes, clothing, groceries, a way to get home, but cannot afford the costs. We have people that would LOVE to get into treatment, unfortunately, they cannot afford the costs. We will help whoever we can with whatever we can. At this point, any help financially is coming from our own pocket, and most of us can't afford to keep helping that way. We will start a fund from this sale, and any other sale, to fund a non profit organization, but first and foremost, a fund for a parent and child that needs help. We can help with the medications that help an addict get clean and stay clean like Vivitrol, Suboxone or Methadone. Those medications block the opioid receptors in the brain and stop the craving to use. Once they can get thru the hard part, they can and do stop using medication assistance, but they have to be able to afford those medications.
