About this campaign

Please help us raise funds to establish a scholarship in memory of Samantha Jade Wang at the University of Nevada Reno. Samantha was known for being selfless and for always helping others.  This scholarship will be established in her name and will help Journalism students at UNR.  Purchase a shirt for your next workout!  Thank you all for your support.

We can honor and remember Samantha Jade Wang by wearing these great workout shirts. All proceeds go directly to the UNR Foundation for the establishment of the Samantha Jade Wang scholarship for the benefit of UNR students.

Sam came up with 'SWANG' combining her first name initial and last name. She was the most determined and hard working individual.
Train with SWANG at your next workout/activity! Keep your head up, train hard! Stop Whining And Never Give up.

Samantha Jade Wang, born on October 8, 1992 in Las Vegas, NV, passed away on December 16, 2014 from a heart infection (Endocarditis). She was a senior at the University of Nevada Reno, majoring in Journalism with a minor in Photography. Sam was a very creative mind who aspired to be in the fashion industry as a fashion editor. She had a passion for writing and capturing artistic photographs, and combined her talents in her personal blog featuring editorial, health, and beauty advice. Known for being selfless and caring, she volunteered her time as a mentor and leader for other students in UNR’s Canada Hall. She received an Advisor Award for her contributions as Publicity Coordinator II and Committee Member on the Canada Leadership Council from 2012-2013. Recently, she completed an internship as a staff writer for a local Reno newspaper, providing color to community arts and entertainment events. With a focus and love for fitness, she enjoyed playing basketball and played club Frisbee with UNR students. Sam loved spending time with family and close friends, and also enjoyed: reading, cooking, and shopping. Her legacy she leaves is one of humility and giving. As a ray of sunshine, she is forever remembered in our hearts with a smile that would brighten up a room.

At our request and with the help of her boyfriend, Ryley Hill, UNR will confer Sam with a posthumous Bachelor's degree in the Spring '15. Establishing this scholarship will give back to the school & help  other UNR students succeed.
