Gizmo the Therapy Dog's handler from Gizmo's Frens (www.facebook.com/GizmosFrens) is in need of support in order to continue graduate school while facing some unexpected health issues and continuing her work with Gizmo. God willing, she will be graduating this August with a Master's degree in Human Service Counseling - Crisis Response and Trauma. It is her hope to utilize this degree to assist people in crisis, with the help of her therapy dog, Gizmo. She has paid for her tuition, fees, and books. She went to school full time since last September, while she also worked full-time as a special education teacher. Due to health issues (scheduled for surgery August 7), she is unable to keep up this pace, and has found it necessary to not teach summer school, and focus only on finishing her degree program while she continues her animal assisted therapy work with Gizmo in the community. The funds will go toward covering expenses as Gizmo continues to visit hospitals, schools, nursing homes, libraries, juvenile detention, and more, as well as making community appearances to support charitable causes. We have always covered these expenses ourselves and have never accepted payment for anything we do. We just aren't able to provide this for the summer as we finish the degree.
