When our daughter, Evelyn (Evie) was born, we were surprised by life threatening birth defects. In those first few hours after she was born, we chose the name Evelyn because it meant 'life' and 'breath' and those were the two things we wanted most for her. She was later diagnosed with CHARGE Syndrome and we came to see that her syndrome and health issues are a part of WHO she was made to be. Both of our girls have hymns to go with their names and Evie's hymn is "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty." One of the lines we clung to was:

"Praise to the Lord, who with marvelous wisdom hath made thee, Decked thee with health, and with loving hand guided and stayed thee. How oft in grief Hath not he brought thee relief, Spreading his wings to o’ershade thee!"

Evie has gone on to show what a strong fighter she is and, though we still have quite a few health issues to tend to, is a thriving and happy 4 year old! There is still so much research that needs to be done to help those with CHARGE syndrome, but the CHARGE Syndrome Foundation needs funds to do that. All proceeds from this shirt sale will go directly to the foundation to help in a small way to improve the lives of those individuals with CHARGE syndrome.
