Big Hair Animal Rescue (BHAR) is a 501c3 rescue organization founded in May of 2015 by two passionate women committed to the mission of improving the lives of forgotten street cats and shelter dogs.

BHAR is a foster-based, non breed-specific rescue based out of Northern Connecticut and Central Massachusetts.

Since being founded we have forever changed the lives of over 70 cats and dogs and just celebrated our 50th adoption!

We rely on the generosity of volunteers and donors like you to provide medical care, training, and nurturing to dogs and cats in need or at risk of euthanasia.

Thousands of adoptable shelter pets are euthanized every day in the US; BHAR is committed to helping one shelter pet at a time and placing them in loving homes. Please help us make a difference for the forgotten ones that no one has come for.
