Canine Advocacy Program

CAP was developed by its director, Daniel Cojanu as result of an idea by a coworker while employed as a Supervisor of Victim Services. After researching various programs around the country, it was felt that we desperately needed such a program to assist child victims who were going to be required to testify. We were very fortunate that Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester, MI donated such a fine dog as Amos to the program. Canine Advocate Amos came to us in 2010 extremely well trained. With the assistance of Leader Dogs, Amos was trained to work in the court system. CAP Canine Advocates have been widely accepted by judges throughout the State of Michigan who allow us to utilize their courtrooms to train with our dogs. Now in its 6th year, CAP supports Child Victims throughout the State with 19 additional Canine Advocates.
