About this campaign

Help support Tucker and Epilepsy Awareness and wear your shirt on March 26th World Wide Wear Purple Day!

A seizure is a brief disturbance in the electrical activity of the brain that causes temporary changes in movement, awareness, feelings, behavior, or other bodily functions. Epilepsy is the fourth most common neurological disorder in the United States after migraine, stroke, and Alzheimer's disease. Even with today's medication, epilepsy CANNOT be cured. What happens in a seizure may look different from one person to another. However, seizures are usually stereotypic, which means the same things or behaviors tend to occur in a person each time they have a seizure. The seizure behavior may be inappropriate for the time and place, but it is unlikely to cause harm to anyone. Tucker has Complex partial seizures. Complex partial seizures last 1 to 2 minutes. These seizures may have an aura (or warning). Complex Partial Seizures include automatisms (such as lip smacking, picking at clothes, fumbling), unaware of surroundings or may wander. What to do if someone has a seizure: -Remain calm. -Stay with person. -Time seizure. -Protect from injury especially the head. -Roll into recovery position after jerking stops OR immediately if food/fluid/vomit in mouth. -Maintain privacy and dignity. -Observe and monitor breathing.
-Gently reassure until recovered.
