About this campaign

https://www.facebook.com/nerdnesto
My name is Ernesto Rodriguez, I am 34 years old a Father and a Veteran. I left the service after 15 years due to an injury sustained while in the US Army. I deployed on 4 tours of duty. 2 to Iraq and 2 to Afghanistan. I was in an Airborne Infantry unit that was one of the first to step foot into Iraq during the March 2003 invasion. Ive seen a lot in my time as a soldier and i have lost just as much. Many friends have passed on some through combat and some after. Most of them have taken their lives due to the inability to cope or understand how to live life after seeing so much horror and the guilt that is placed on their soldiers knowing families are living without their husbands, wives, fathers, and mothers, while they get to return home.

I have suffered from the ailments and have committed myself to becoming an advocate and loudspeaker from those who suffer from an epidemic in this country we know as PTSD. I have decided to take the task of walking across the country to raise awareness and try to shine light on this matter. Along the way i meet other Veterans and their families. The ones i meet have signed the 60 LB Rucksack and a flag that waves as i pass by. I dedicate miles to those we have lost. I started in Clarksville, TN and am currently in El Paso, TX. My final destination is Los Angeles, California. I miss home terribly but know this is for a bigger purpose. My route from here will take me through Dallas-Ft Worth, El Paso, Tuscon, Phoenix and finally Los Angeles, where i will take the flag i have carried since the beginning and plant it on the west coast to symbolize the end of this journey, but hopefully not the end of this message. please follow me on IG, Twitter and Facebook on @nerdnesto as i dedicate miles to our fallen soldiers and try to connect with as many people as i can.IMG_3230JPG

Have seen Veterans from Korea through Vietnam, and sadly enough these young men from Bosnia through Iraq and Afghanistan go without appreciation and more importantly without help or hope. Sempre fi, and may God protect and carry you on this journey.
