About this campaign
Too often, we are scared to share our stories out of fear of judgment and the stigma that exists around talking about mental health. We embrace MHA's founder’s message of sharing our stories and experiences to help others know that they are not alone – thus creating a movement to FIGHT IN THE OPEN.
Wearing a t-shirt about mental health may not seem like much, but sometimes a conversation starter is all someone needs to know they are not alone.
This exclusive design was created for Mental Health America by Cleveland-based artist Derek Hess, who openly shares his experience with mental illness and chooses to Fight in the Open. Both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the famous Louvre in Paris have Hess’ art in their permanent collection.
Supporters
I support mental health for the main reason that many of my family members have or had a mental health disorder. I have suffered from depression/suicidal thoughts in the past, and I will gladly support anything that benefits mental health awareness.
As a social worker I support Mental Health America's campaign to fight the stigma associated with mental health.
On behalf of my loved ones and those they love who suffer, especially the young people.
My occupational background is in mental health; and support MHA efforts
I've worked as a psych nurse for the past 39 years. It is time to get past the stigma so people who are suffering with mental health challenges will be less reluctant to reach out for help.
Im supporting for Assurance Health, Senior Inpatient Psychiatric Care, a geriatric psychiatric hospital focusing on the mental health needs of the senior population. I'm also advocating for my 18 year old brother who has autism and emotional trauma.
