About this campaign

Joris is in his fifth year of fundraising for N/a'an ku sê, a wildlife sanctuary in Namibia whose innovative approaches to solving human-carnivore conflict situations are having an immediate impact to local wildlife populations.

All money raised il go directly to the sanctuary's research department.

Seattle area orders are welcome to have shirts delivered to Joris' house in Ballard and picked up there to save on shipping costs. People who will be at N/a'an ku sê on or after July 27, 2018 can order and use Joris' address as well; we'll either bring them or do a N/a'an ku sê shipment (if we get a lot of orders)!

Please check out the list of countries Booster ships to; more countries are now included!

Last fall Joris was honored to be a Gloria Barron Prize recipient. He donated his $5000 prize money to N/a'an ku sê, and the award prompted interviews with print magazines TIME for Kids and Animal Talk and an appearance on the Seattle morning show New Day Northwest. This year, Joris has been focusing on outreach and awareness. We started www.kids4cheetahs.com and Joris jumped into social media as well. You can follow him on Instagram and Facebook at kids4cheetahs.

In October of 2016, Joris flew to San Francisco to present at the Young Eco Hero Awards. You can watch his presentation on cheetah conservation below.

This is Joris' fifth year fundraising to help save cheetahs living in the wild! Cheetahs have been his favorite animal as long as he can remember. When he read about the very real possibility that cheetahs might become extinct in his lifetime, he was very distraught and asked how he can help to prevent that from happening. He was 6 years old at that time.

Ever since, Joris and his mom have been fundraising to try to help the cheetahs. They have an online fundraiser, have run many lemonade stands, wrote to businesses for support, sold flowers and held rollerskating parties. So far, he has raised over $21,000 to help the researchers at N/a'an ku sê continue their important work.

N/a'an ku sê is a wildlife sanctuary that cares for injured and orphaned wildlife, with the ultimate goal to re-release them in the wild. One of their efforts that has been proven to be highly successful is talking to farmers and helping them come up with better solutions other than shooting the predators (cheetahs, leopards, wild dogs and hyenas). This is called human-wildlife mitigation. It's so important as every farmer they get to agree to not shoot cheetahs helps animals survive and have a larger safe-zone to exist.

Joris feels so strongly about saving cheetahs that he spends his summer vacations volunteering at N/a'an ku sê. He helps clean enclosures, prepare food and feed the animals and helps with research efforts - an important part of ultimate species' survival.

Joris wants to become a wildlife biologist or researcher and work at N/a'an ku sê full-time when he grows up. He is confident that he can help contribute to cheetahs' survival. Will you help too?

I think Joris is an amazing young man. Kids like him represent the future so I am happy to support him. And Naankuse is “my home away from home” so I can also support them with this campaign.

I was volunteering at the time when (cheetah) Joris was found and brought in, and given his rightful name. This experience and the ability to help these animals changed my life.

Charles Stilfield 1 item + $25

I loved my time working there, and fell in love with all of the animals. Working side by side with Dr Rudy to fight a Bush fire, I got to see what a great and heroic man and family they are.
