About this campaign

My name is Stephanie and I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease at the end of 2015. As someone who has always been passionate about food and restaurants, this news felt like a devastating blow. I knew I would need to change my lifestyle, but I didn't know what that would look like. At the time, there wasn't anyone out there making a list of places to find gluten free food in the DC-area, so I decided to take the project on myself and create EatGFree.

My experience exploring the food world as someone with Celiac Disease has been incredibly rewarding at times and incredibly frustrating other times, but one of my favorite things about the process has been connecting with others who face the same challenges. The Celiac Disease community is one that I have found to be kind, eager to build each other up, and excited to offer helpful tips and tricks to one another. In the years following my diagnosis, I have seen how efforts made to spread awareness about this disease have had a positive impact, but there is still a ways to go. In honor of Celiac Disease Awareness Month, I am excited to help in the effort to give back to this wonderful community by raising money for the Celiac Disease Foundation.

It is my hope that in my lifetime Celiacs will no longer have to worry about the frightening health risks associated with this disease and we will finally have a cure. Let's help the Celiac Disease Foundation get us there!

I was diagnosed in November 2017 and still have terrible food anxiety. Living in South Louisiana, EVERYTHING is about food so the struggle is real. But I'll keep pushing forward, keep trying new things, and keep praying for a cure!
