About this campaign

Toys for Teachers collects new and gently used toys and redistributes them to teachers of students with disabilities. Toys for Teachers is 100% volunteer run by people who care about special education teachers and their students. All funds collected from this t-shirt sale will support special education teachers and students in Fairfax County Public Schools.

Teachers who reach out to Toys for Teachers for help receive assistance for free and always will. Follow our story of spreading kindness and generosity by visiting our website at www.toysforteachers.org or finding us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ToysForTeachers/

On August 3, 2017 Toys for Teachers was founded by Lindsey, a special education teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools. For students with special needs, toys hold motivational value; they are used to teach. Every day, special education teachers are using toys to improve students’ adaptive behavior, social skills, functional communication, and academic progress. However, unlike instructional resources, toys are often not funded in special education classrooms. With the belief that no special education teacher should have to choose between paying for their students' toys or going without, Lindsey sought ways to alleviate financial constraints and make toys accessible for all special education classrooms in need.
