BABDA JUNETEENTH 2020 FUNDRAISER

Here's our story on why we are having a t-shirt fundraiser to raise funds for our Black Deaf Youth Scholarship Fund. Someone found our website and emailed us to inquire for help. The person stated that they know of a Black Deaf youth who is adopted by non-black family. That child is confused and has no contact with other Black Deaf adults who can take the time to chat, explain what's going on, and listen. That email broke our heart. We cannot just be aloof and "leave a child behind." With the unprecedented and turbulent times we are currently experiencing, we are very concerned for our Black Deaf youth, who like that child, may feel anxious, scared, uncertain about their future. We want to encourage them and remind them that they are not alone. We are in this together and it is our responsibility to empower them with tools to be prepared for their future.
