About this campaign

Funds raised will be used to assist BIWOC women in offsetting expenses associated with attending and presenting at the Craft Brewers Conference 2021 in Denver, CO this fall.

An invitation to present at Craft Brewers Conference (CBC) is an opportunity for BIWOC to share our experiences in the craft brewing community alongside our peers. Opportunities such as these pave the way for once-in-a-lifetime education, collaborations, and fellowship.
However, taking advantage of such opportunities to participate in such experiences and ensuring authentic representation within the craft community for BIWOC is at times hindered due to inequity in access to resources. Expenses often associated with participating in some of the industry's more well-known events, such as CBC, could potentially be prohibitive to those from underrepresented communities who would greatly benefit by bringing their complete selves “to the room”. Additionally, costs associated with BIWOC experts applying to present at industry conferences, etc. can deter those who have priceless firsthand knowledge, constructive strategies to take on industry-wide areas for growth, and inspirational narratives. Such barriers that keep us all from learning from these most worthy educators ultimately diminishes the expansion in rich talent at these major industry events. It is our heart’s desire to lower that bar of entry, even just a little bit, for other women of color who have a love for craft beer and are making a mark within our community.

Thus, we present to you our call to action: “Lifting Lucy: A Promise to support BIWOC in Beer”. This initiative is rooted in the undeniable truth that we are our sisters’ keepers and BIWOC have always held a sacred space in fermentation. From being the mother of civilization (Lucy), to our participation in the rich origins of brewing and fermentation, to our future in the brewing industry - BIWOC have and will always make valuable contributions to beer culture and development. Ongoing donations from the merchandise will aid women who want to attend cornerstone events within the industry.

Being truly seen in an environment and community that has stolen your heart is priceless! So, we thank you in advance for your donations, purchases, and tips as we intentionally support those looking to affect long-lasting and impactful evolution within their business, local communities, and the industry as a whole.

FAQs
Can I donate even if I do not purchase a shirt? Absolutely!

I wish I could do more, but I have so few resources. Are there other ways to help? This is a collective effort. No resource is too small! Donate your time and share this information with the brew lovers in your communities.

I gotta have one of these shirts! How long do I have to purchase merch? This fundraiser will run until 7/29/2021.
