Team Adrian

For a few days Adrian’s mom was worried about his complexion being very pale and fought with the Pediatrician to bring him in to get checked out. And thank God she did! He had blood drawn and was sent home with the idea we would hear back that evening or Friday morning with what the results were. By 9pm the Dr called saying Adrian needed to get to The Children’s Hospital and to be prepared to stay for a few days because his hemoglobin was down to 3. Which is EXTREMELY LOW. And Adrian could have fooled his own mom because other than his pale complexion he was acting NORMAL. Went to school, ate dinner, played with his brother, and was his complete funny and loving self. He was immediately told that they suspected Leukemia but needed to run their tests to confirm. Adrian had a bone marrow biopsy so they could confirm what kind of leukemia he has. It confirmed that he has ALL leukemia which is the best one to have and has the highest survival rate for children. The doctors are very confident Adrian is going to be ok during this whole thing. And most importantly, Adrian is the MOST confident he’s going to live a long life and he keeps telling him mom she doesn't need to cry. He’s been so brave and so positive. We have a long road ahead of us but we are extremely positive, and so far Adrian's treatment is going well! Spanish: Durante unos días, la madre de Adrian estuvo preocupada porque su tez estaba muy pálida y luchó con el pediatra para que lo llevara a que lo revisaran. ¡Y gracias a Dios que lo hizo! Le sacaron sangre y lo enviaron a casa con la idea de que recibiríamos una respuesta esa noche o el viernes por la mañana con los resultados. A las 9:00 p. M., El Dr. llamó diciendo que Adrian necesitaba llegar al Hospital de Niños y estar preparado para quedarse unos días porque su hemoglobina había bajado a 3. Lo cual es EXTREMADAMENTE BAJO. Y Adrian podría haber engañado a su propia madre porque, aparte de su tez pálida, estaba actuando NORMAL. Fue a la escuela, cenó, jugó con su hermano y fue completamente divertido y cariñoso. Inmediatamente le dijeron que sospechaban leucemia, pero necesitaban realizar sus pruebas para confirmar. Adrian se sometió a una biopsia de médula ósea para que pudieran confirmar qué tipo de leucemia tiene. Confirmó que tiene TODA la leucemia, que es la mejor y tiene la tasa de supervivencia más alta para los niños. Los médicos están muy seguros de que Adrian estará bien durante todo este proceso. Y lo más importante, Adrian está MÁS seguro de que va a vivir una vida larga y le sigue diciendo a mamá que no necesita llorar. Ha sido tan valiente y tan positivo. Tenemos un largo camino por delante, pero somos extremadamente positivos, ¡y hasta ahora el tratamiento de Adrian está yendo bien!
