I am so proud of the students who are fighting to make marginalized voices more visible.
I am actually appreciative of the book banners and their efforts. They will do nothing but increase the interest of our young people in exploring and evaluating different ideas and perspectives. It’s not the intention, but it will be the result.
As a former teacher I am horrified that book banning is being readily embraced by our School Board and Superintendent. We all need to fight back.
Kids should be allowed to choose what they want to read, not adults trying to control what they don't understand.
When the people in charge are ruled by fear everyone suffers.
Brava Kids! Bystanders are complicit in bullying. You are NOT bystanders. May your example influence others to speak out. Hate and ignorance cannot decide what content is in schools.
As a teacher in this district, I am SO incredibly proud of these students for being so well spoken and committed to standing up for what’s right. Stand proud! I have so much pride in this upcoming generation.
