About this campaign
Our community members have actively been protesting the Board of Trustees' decision to uphold discriminatory employment policies against the LGBTQIA+ community. We are raising money to file a lawsuit against the Board of Trustees for breach of fiduciary duty, which means they are not acting in the best interest of the organization (this is different than a discrimination case). It is important that people recognize that the our community as a whole stands against homophobia, and the Board of Trustees refuses to act in accordance with what is best for the university.
At this point, groups within the school have taken almost every measure they can to hold the Board accountable, with no success in changing these discriminatory policies. We believe that legal action is the best course of action moving forward and are actively compiling evidence that highlights the numerous ways the Board's decision has harmed the school and its community. This is the only way we can try and have Board members in support of upholding discriminatory policies removed from their position without them resigning on their own.
We have also decided that this fund will be donated to the school in its entirety if the Board repeals the discriminatory employment policies by July 1st instead of being used to take legal action.

Queer people belong at SPU and bigotry does not.
This is the first time I’ve get proud of my Alma Mater in years. Let the board be impacted by the radical inclusivity of the Gospel and the voice of the SPU community.
So so proud of all that you are doing! SPU alum hoping for the change we all know is needed!
