About this campaign
In the wake of Hurricane Ian on September 28, 2022, Shalimar Cottages & Motel was one of the few properties on Sanibel Island to not only be damaged but wholly washed away. As wind and water turned every building at Shalimar into rubble, it also swept under the small paradise thousands of visitors enjoy every year. It is impossible to articulate how stunned and devastated we are by this sudden disaster. However, Sanibel is our home, and we have stood here since 1959. Countless memories have been shared here, relationships made, and friendships nourished. We want to remain the place where this happens. WE WILL REBUILD.

Shalimar has been our favorite "happy place"...we cherish the times we were able to stay in cottage #7 & hope to come back when everything is up and running again. Romas and staff...so happy you are alright...you made Shalimar wonderful!! So sorry!

Shalimar was the first place I stayed on Sanibel. That was 51 years ago. Our family stayed there every year in the summer and my parents spent their winters in a cottage. Hoping to see new cottages!
We really enjoyed our first stay in May '22 and very saddened to see what happened to the island, especially Shalimar. Super excited you are rebuilding!
My first time visiting Sanibel was last year, week after thanksgiving with three of my longtime girlfriends, after all the Covid restrictions it was the best “ shot” in the arm we ever had! We are looking forward to a shalimar reunion! Good luck!
