About this campaign
For more than a decade, SHAPE America has worked to build relationships on Capitol Hill and establish a strong voice for our profession, which has led to more federal support and funding for health and physical education programs. Why were we able to achieve these successes? Because our voices are stronger together.
With an uphill battle ahead for federal funding increases, it is more important than ever to build relationships with Congress and advocate in-person. Please join us for SPEAK Out! Day on February 13-14, 2024, to help educate legislators about the importance of effective health and physical education. We need your help!

As a PE major I can’t stress enough the importance for people in the capitol to see and hear us!!!
In this high tech, screen orientated society, the world of PE activity is needed now more than ever!! Connections to the environment, health, and mental acuity are talked about frequently in education, but come to life in a PE Class!!!
You are all speaking out on our behalf! Children need exercise and wellness programs in the schools.
As a Physical Educator I need to support ways to promote Health and Physical Education teachers and ways to get more of these classes in our schools.
Getting the opportunity to advocate for our great profession at the highest level is an experience that all teachers should get to experience. I am excited to support this program and share this experience with a new teacher attendee in February.
I believe Physical Education is very important for all students K-12. Especially now due to all the phones, tablets, social media and video games kids are involved with. I coach 3 sports and i struggle to fill the team, as do other school districts.
