Children should not be distracted from learning due to hunger.
I work at my local health department as a Child and Family Wellness Coordinator. I am happy to support this effort. As a family of 6 we qualify for food assistance. My county (Alleghany) DID NOT receive free meals. I want to help change that!!
Plain and simple..because it's the truth!
All of us want and need our children to be able to learn. No child should be hungry at school or at home. Free school meals for all begins to address hunger in our state.
Having one’s basic human needs met is crucial for growth and development. The investment in nutrition programs is a good step towards growing a healthy population, and that benefits society as a whole. We must care for our children.
This is such a simple concept and it needs to be shown to others.
Kids don’t choose to go to school hungry. It is not their fault that they live in a society that doesn’t value or appreciate them.
I know what it is like to go to school hungry. My stomach always hurt in the morning so I never ate breakfast and I was always hungry and could never focus. If I had the option to get breakfast in the morning it would have been very helpful.
School Nurse
