Bassetpalooza 2026

Since 2001, New England Basset Hound Rescue has been dedicated to helping Basset Hounds in need across the six New England states. Founded by a group of passionate Basset lovers, NEBHR was built on a simple belief: every dog deserves a safe, loving home. Today, NEBHR is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization run entirely by volunteers. From the Board of Directors to foster families, transport volunteers, home visit coordinators, and event organizers, every person involved donates their time and energy to help hounds find their forever homes. Unlike traditional shelters, NEBHR operates through a foster-based rescue model. Our dogs live in caring foster homes where they receive medical care, stability, and love while waiting for adoption. Most come to us as owner surrenders or strays, often arriving confused, neglected, or facing medical challenges. Through the dedication of our volunteers and supporters, these dogs are given the opportunity to heal, thrive, and begin a new chapter. NEBHR has successfully placed nearly 1,600 Basset Hounds and Basset mixes into loving forever homes. We work closely with shelters and Animal Control Officers throughout New England to ensure that when a Basset Hound needs help, there is a rescue ready to answer the call.
