Spencer J Whitney Memorial Wrestling Scholarship

On March 31, 2024, our community lost a remarkable young man far too soon. Spencer J. Whitney unexpectedly passed away at the age of 21, leaving behind a lasting impact on his family, friends, and the Duanesburg community.

Spencer was the kindest and most genuine soul; an incredible son, amazing brother, loyal friend, dedicated student-athlete, and an “old soul” who touched everyone he met. His love for wrestling and his deep connection to the Duanesburg community continue to inspire us.

In honor of Spencer’s memory and the values he embodied, we established the Spencer J. Whitney Memorial Wrestling Scholarship. This scholarship supports deserving senior wrestlers from Duanesburg who demonstrate Spencer’s exceptional character and are pursuing higher education. Our goal is to provide meaningful financial assistance each year to help these young athletes succeed both on and off the mat.

We are deeply committed to continuing Spencer’s legacy. With your support, we hope to fund an annual scholarship for a deserving senior wrestler, ensuring that future Duanesburg students carry forward the spirit of perseverance, kindness, and excellence that Spencer represented.
