December 2, 2013 (Hayward, CA):
This month Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) kicks off a new campaign to celebrate and support educational excellence in Hayward. The goal is to showcase the achievements of HUSD alumni and bring the community together to increase the achievement of Hayward students. According to HUSD Superintendent Stan Dobbs “So often we only focus on the negative, on what’s not working. The Made in Hayward Campaign focuses on the contributions of HUSD alumni and on generating community pride.” During the six-month campaign, which runs from January to June 2014, all stakeholders, including HUSD staff, parents, students, local businesses, and community-based organizations, will be asked to take the Superintendent Commitment Pledge to support students’ social and emotional well-being and academic achievements. The community will be able to support the campaign by buying Made in Hayward T- shirts and commemorative items. The donations will go to HUSD and willbe used for HUSD students.
